Shook Foil Books is committed to supporting God’s kingdom through publishing high-quality, thoughtful Christian ebooks. Wholly ecumenical, we support young and emerging voices, take risks, and seek God’s will for the church. We are independently owned and we are run by a team of experienced pastors, scholars, editors, and artists.

Our Name

The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
It will flame out, like shining from shook foil...
    - “God’s Grandeur,” Gerard Manley Hopkins, 1918

Inspired by Hopkins verse about God’s glory in the world, Shook Foil Books strives to show God’s grandeur through publishing.

Our Logo

Designed by Michael Hendrix of IDEO, a chair (inspired by Marcel Breuer’s 1928 B32 model) hangs on the wall, upside down, reminiscent of a Shaker home and its values. Simplicity, practicality, craftsmanship, and genuine faith are the same values we bring to publishing.  Use the chair to welcome a stranger to the dinner table, host a party, or relax and read. Notice also that there’s also an S and F in the design!
